The lobby is open 24 hours a day with a night drop for bills, parking tickets, etc. Also a phone which dials directly to County Radio for Police.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Borough of Akron will receive
public comments on the proposed Chesapeake Bay Pollutant Reduction Plan (CBPRP)
required for the 2018-2023 NPDES Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) Permit.
The Proposed CBPRP is available for review at the Borough Office located at
117 South Seventh Street, Akron, PA from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday from
July 26, 2017 through August 25, 2017. Digital copies are also available here.

Interested parties may request a copy of the proposed CBPRP by contacting the
Borough at 717-859-1600 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Borough will accept written comments for 30 calendar days from the date
of this public notice. Interested parties may submit written comments which must be
postmarked no later than August 25, 2017, and shall be addressed to Sue Davidson,
Borough Manager, Borough of Akron, 117 South Seventh Street, PO Box 130, Akron, PA 17501-0130.
Comments may be submitted electronically using email@example.com. The email
subject line shall include "Comments - Borough of Akron CBPRP". The Council will also
provide an opportunity for interested parties to provide comments during their regularly
scheduled meeting on August 14, 2017 at 7 PM at 117 South Seventh Street, Akron, PA 17501.
Colonial Park Access Path to Trail
A "gofundme" account has been opened to raise funds to construct an access path
from Colonial Drive to the Rail Trail. If you would like to contribute click
Needed: People to water new tree and bush seedlings planted along Rail Trail
section in Colonial Park. Volunteers would take responsibility to water 30+
seedlings for a week. We need 6 volunteers so each person or team would be
responsible to water the trees once every six weeks. Nice project for a family

The Steering Committee for Akron's next Comprehensive Plan meets the 4th
Thursday of each month at the Akron Fire Hall. All residents are encouraged

List of Borough Ordinances
Residents are prohibited from parking vehicles on the grass in their front yard setback.
Pets in the park must be controlled on a leash and owners must clean up after their pets.
Cracks and crumbling sidewalks must be repaired or replaced.
Residents are responsible for bushes and trees encroaching in street right-of-ways. Tree limbs must be trimmed to 10 feet
Property Owners are responsible for trimming weeds growing along the curb line.
It is a violation of Borough Ordinance to repair or work on vehicles on any Borough Street.
Borough Tree Height Ordinance Effective June 1st 2011
Based on the recommendation of the Borough Police Department and the Akron Volunteer Fire Company, last fall Borough Council amended the tree height ordinance in the interest of safety for both vehicles, pedestrians and our volunteer fire fighters. This change goes into effect June 1st and increases the minimum height of overhanging trees in street right-of way(s) from the current (10) feet to (14) feet the entire lengths of Seventh Street and Main Streets, North Ninth Street from SR 272 to Main Street, South Ninth Street from Oak Street South to Borough line and North Eleventh Street from SR272 to Main Street.
